For the first time ever………Three Miners has made a dessert wine! I (Kirstin) am so excited by this. I love dessert wine and I am over the moon that the 2020 season produced grapes perfect for sticky wine. We left a small portion of our Gewurztraminer fruit on the vine for a longer period than all our other grapes, this enabled the sugar content of the grapes to increase. We harvested what was left after the birds and the bees had had their fill and Lucie Lawrence at Aurum used her wine maker magic to create a luscious dessert wine with rose petal/Turkish delight flavours. We have just 328 bottles (375 ml) of gorgeous deliciousness!
The name of our dessert wine is 2 Minerettes after myself and our Vineyard Supervisor - Jamee Fortune. This wine recognises the work that Jamee and I do here at Three Miners and acknowledges the women pioneers of the 1860 gold mining era. A portion of the sale price is donated to Central Otago Women in Wine, which is an organisation that engages, educates and inspires women working in the Central Otago Wine industry.
